About us

Life Lodge Alternative Education offers a therapeutic and nurture-based setting for 10-16 year olds   who have found mainstream education challenging and need a wrap-around approach to education. Our aim is to give every young person the chance to experience achievements and to support them to fulfil their aspirations, whilst developing an understanding of the journey they have taken. At Life Lodge, we understand that not every life journey will be smooth sailing, we fully believe that this should not stand in the way of a young person living a fulfilling and prosperous adult life, contributing to society as a happy and responsible citizen.

Our door is open to any young person, and their families, who will flourish in a caring and inspiring setting, regardless of their background and life-experiences. This makes the work carried out at Life Lodge a unique offer. We passionately believe supporting the growth of resilience to overcome personal and educational barriers not only for the young person, but their families too, will open up opportunities for life. This in turn helps improve communities who struggle with anti-social behaviours, unemployment and reduce crime rates. We embed independent thinking, respect for self and others in to all that we do at Life Lodge in order to develop the skills to overcome the challenges of the wider world. Building and maintaining strong, lasting relationships is paramount at Life Lodge and we will work hard to accomplish this.

Meet the Team

Life Lodge Alternative Education has been established by Sarah and Selina after many years of working within education and seeing the problems children and young people face on a daily basis.

Selina Budgen

Director of Education

I have worked in education and youth work for over 10 years. During this time, I have had experience working with young people who demonstrate challenging behaviour and have various barriers to learning, because of this, I am extremely passionate about the work that I do. I believe all behavior is communication and that building strong relationships is the key to success. I am a trained SEN Teacher and have excellent success rates with the young people I have had the pleasure of working with. Life Lodge has an open door policy and this is something that has helped develop long lasting relationships with both students and their families. The future is in our hands and Life Lodge will help steer the future of our younger generations to be happy, caring individuals who have aspirations to change the world for the better. We are all in this together!
